An absolute abomination so far. Feels like something Channel 5 would have put out when Channel 5 first appeared on the scene. The acting is for the most part dire (other than Hawes, who looks completely out of place), there is zero suspense, plot buildup, character development and it doesn’t even remain faithful to a story line that has struggled to stand the test of time. The setting for TMC is totally unrealistic. British villages just aren’t like the one depicted here. Sky’s vision of village life are no more than London and urban life replicated in a rural setting. Thea no atmosphere, no realism whatsoever in this shocking adaptation of the classic novel.
Don’t waste your time unless you want a laugh at how chronically bad a production can be.
