Bad reviews for Blindspot often criticize the show for having an absurd, cliché-ridden plot, inconsistent character actions, and over-the-top acting. Critics and viewers frequently note that the FBI drama lacks realism, with “go-rogue” tropes, illogical scenarios, and repetitive, “bang-bang” action sequences that become comical rather than suspenseful.
Blindspot is heavily characterized by a, at times, divisive “shaky cam” style, featuring constant, handheld motion, rapid zooms, and intense close-ups designed to create a sense of urgency, tension, and a documentary-like, kinetic energy. While some viewers find this technique immersive, others report it is disorienting or causes motion sickness.
This show has been on my to watch list for a while, but haven’t seen any of it yet. Last night an episode was on the TV when I came into the room and immediately asked “what he hell is this?” The scene was obviously not only a handheld camera, but zoomed as well, doing full shaky-cam effect. I couldn’t even pay attention to the scene because the jumping/jerking video was making me nauseus.
